Funeral Services (Janazah)

Compassionate guidance during life's most difficult moments

Islamic Funeral Services

When a loved one passes away, our community comes together to provide complete Islamic funeral services with dignity, care, and adherence to the Quran and Sunnah. We are here to guide and support the family through every step of this process.

"Every soul shall taste death. And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense."

- Quran, Surah Al-Imran 3:185

Islam teaches us to honor the deceased with a prompt and dignified burial. Our trained volunteers and Imam work together to ensure that all rites are carried out properly, bringing comfort to the bereaved family and fulfilling our collective obligation (fard kifayah) to the deceased.

The Janazah Process

What the Masjid Provides

Immediate Guidance & Coordination

From the moment you contact us, our team coordinates all aspects of the funeral process. We liaise with hospitals, funeral homes, and cemeteries on the family's behalf to ensure a smooth and timely process.

Ghusl & Kafan Services

Trained volunteers perform the ritual washing (ghusl) and shrouding (kafan) of the body in accordance with Islamic law. Separate male and female teams are available. Kafan (burial shroud) is provided by the masjid.

Janazah Prayer & Burial Coordination

The Imam leads the janazah prayer at the masjid at a time announced to the community. We coordinate transportation to the cemetery and assist with the burial process, including arranging the grave according to Islamic requirements.

Bereavement Support

Our Imam and community members are available to provide spiritual comfort, counseling, and practical support to the bereaved family during their time of need. We help organize meals and visitations during the mourning period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Contact the masjid immediately. While waiting, gently close the eyes of the deceased, straighten the limbs, and cover the body with a clean sheet. Recite Surah Yasin or make dua for the deceased. Our team will guide you through everything else from that point forward.
In Islam, burial should take place as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours. We work to expedite the process while ensuring all Islamic rites are properly observed. However, we understand that local regulations and family logistics sometimes require additional time.
The masjid provides ghusl, kafan, and janazah prayer services. Cemetery and burial costs vary depending on the cemetery. Please contact us for current information on associated costs. No Muslim will be turned away due to financial hardship — the community will step in to help.
Non-Muslim friends and family are welcome to attend the janazah prayer to pay their respects. While they would not participate in the prayer itself, their presence and support is valued and appreciated by the family.
Death does not follow a schedule, and neither does our support. Contact the masjid at any time — our emergency contact line is monitored around the clock. We will respond as quickly as possible to begin the arrangements.
Islam does not permit cremation. Embalming is also generally avoided unless required by law (such as for transportation across state or country lines). The Islamic practice emphasizes a prompt, natural burial. Our Imam can advise on specific circumstances.
